DHL workers represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters have voted to ratify a new four-year labour contract, securing higher wages and stronger job protections.

The agreement was approved by a 92% margin and follows the threat of a nationwide strike that could have involved thousands of DHL workers across 26 local unions.

“This agreement proves that when workers stand together, we win,” said Sean M. O’Brien. “DHL Teamsters showed the company that they were ready to strike for a fair contract, and they delivered a historic agreement that raises standards for the entire logistics industry.”

The new contract includes a 20% wage increase over its four-year term, along with improved health and welfare contributions and enhanced job protections. It also introduces safeguards against AI-driven routing systems that could affect seniority and explicitly prohibits the use of autonomous vehicles that may threaten jobs.

“This contract locks in real wage gains and industry-leading protections that will improve the lives of our members,” said Randy Korgan. “Our members stood strong and were prepared to do whatever it took to win the strongest agreement possible.”

According to the union, the deal was reached after workers signalled readiness to take industrial action if negotiations failed. The negotiating committee secured a tentative agreement less than 24 hours before the previous contract was due to expire on March 31.

“This victory shows the power of unity and solidarity,” said Paul Hogrogian. “DHL Teamsters across the country were united in their fight for a better future, and this contract delivers.”

The DHL Teamsters National Master Agreement covers thousands of workers across the United States.
